The idea of starting a distillery has been a topic of dinner table conversation among the Clancy family for some time. As plans came together we thought long and hard about where to locate the new venture. While we are passionate about Lanesborough, where we grew up, we are all too practically minded to make the decision on purely sentimental grounds.
Then the penny dropped.
Lough Ree Distillery is all about connection: connecting Whiskey tradition with modern technology. Connecting the gentle pace of rural Ireland with the confidence of a new generation. So it was more than our own roots that decided it for us. It was the bridge connecting East and West, the roads and river that connect Lanesborough to the rest of the region. Then, after securing the ideal premises we found out that our great grand uncle was resident there at the time of the 1901 Census. A sign if ever there was one!
Our products
Sling Shot Gin is proudly distilled and bottled at our micro distillery in Lanesborough, Co Longford. We are the first distillery to ever distil peat as a botanical in gin. The peat creates an incredibly rich and smooth mouthfeel, while adding a deliciously earthy finish to our otherwise bold and fresh Irish gin.
Tasting Note:
The citrus and mint give beautifully fresh top notes, the juniper and cardamom in particular add spice and boldness while the peat finishes it off with an earthiness and rounded mouthfeel, balanced with a hint of freshness from the mint.

8 years in Bourbon Cask, finished by Lough Ree Distillery in a specially selected Anima Negra Red Wine Cask from Mallorca.
Tasting Notes:
Candied Fruits, freshly made custard and toffee on the nose, continue to dark chocolate, more toffee on the palate and a dried fruit finish.

Awarded Best Irish Vodka at the Irish Whiskey Awards 2019, Zesty is produced and bottled at our Micro Distillery in Lanesborough, Co. Longford.
Fresh Organic Oranges, Pink Grapefruit, Lemons and Limes, are distilled with 100% Irish whey spirit to make ZESTY!
Aromatic and bright, it is best served with ice, soda and slice of your favourite citrus.
