Family winery located in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, within the DOC Rioja. Authentic creators of wine, we have a wide range of wines, from the star product Maceración Carbón.

Winery

At Pascual Berganzo we are a 100% family and artisan winery. We specialize in carbonic maceration wines (vintage wines) and other high-quality Rioja Alavesa wines.

We are in the heart of Samaniego, the golden mile of Rioja Alavesa. The cellars of my family Pascual Berganzo date back to the 17th century, in fact, you can visit the cellars in the wine cellar.

From our vineyards located in Samaniego, south of Álava, you can see the Sierra de Cantabria to the north, and the Sierra de Toloño to the south demarcated by the banks of the Ebro river. Thanks to the first, our 90 hectares are protected from humidity and the cold, while the river gives them the warmth of a more Mediterranean climate.

Wines

The author of the Rioja soil map, Manuel Hernández, described the soils of these vineyards as suitable for making the best Rioja reds. The vineyard soils are made of calcareous clay components protected by a temperate climate and protected from winds, something unique to achieve well-ripened, fresh, and colored wines. Here we produce the Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Viura grapes that we have harvested and harvested for more than 40 years. You can take a tour of these vineyards with us, more than can be photographed during the visits we organize to understand in the first person how these grapes grow ecologically in this privileged environment.

The cellar and the cellar

We continue to make our young wines as in the past: in stone presses where the whole family contributes to the treading of the grapes. The Matarredo neighborhood, located at the entrance to Samaniego, is a unique heritage space dotted with 85 drafts carved into the rock for more than two hundred years, from which peculiar vents peek out.

Our Alútiz route runs from the family's historical cellars, passing through concrete presses from the 80s built by my grandfather, to the most current winery with an aging warehouse where we make our jewels.

In the old draft, 12 meters underground, you will have the opportunity to toast a glass of Alútiz while you contemplate our particular interior design.
