As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are now operating with a scaled-back team at Wiston Estate ensuring everyone is keeping socially distant. Wiston Brut NV: Our house style, we would argue, is a perfectly balanced wine made up of equal parts of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. It combines youthful purity of fruit with more mature characters from long lees-ageing. Winning Gold at the International Wine Challenge 2017 and Best Sparkling Trophy in the Independent English Wine Awards 2019, you always need a bottle of this on hand! 

Wiston Rosé NV: Bursting with rhubarb, red berries, and wild roses, our Wiston Rosé NV is joy in a glass. Superbly elegant, this Gold medal-winning English Sparkling wine has tiny, persistent bubbles and a refreshing acidity that makes one go back for more.

Wiston Estate Cuvée 2015: Described by Matthew Jukes as "genuinely impressive", the newest release of our signature Cuvée has fragrant notes of an English Orchard, nectarines, honey and brioche. Made from a blend of 45% Pinot Noir, 33% Chardonnay and 22% Pinot Meunier, this opulent English Sparkling wine is showing beautifully now, but also has the fine-boned structure to age.

Wiston Estate Rosé 2014: Described by Olly Smith as "Exceptional English Fizz", our Wiston Estate Rosé 2014 is brimming with morello cherries, Seville oranges, redcurrants and sweet spice. With extraordinary complexity, great texture and elegance, it is drinking beautifully now especially when paired with food.

Wiston Estate Blanc de Blancs 2015: Elegant and complex, this is the new release of our single vineyard, single varietal, single vintage Blanc de Blancs. It follows in the footsteps of our 2010, which was the most awarded English Sparkling in 2016, and our 2011, which won ‘Best in Show’ in the Decanter World Wine Awards 2019. 2015 was a very good growing season for us, so we have high hopes for this wine!

Wiston Estate Blanc de Noirs 2010: Coming from a benchmark year at Wiston, this rich and complex single-vineyard wine is brimming with nectarines, strawberries and rhubarb, overlaid with delicious brioche, toasted hazelnut and savoury mineral notes. With its persistent stream of tiny bubbles and a long, fruit-laden finish, we’re very excited about this release which was awarded 3 separate trophies in the WineGB Awards 2018: Most Outstanding Blanc de Noirs, Top Sparkling Wine 2018 and best of all, Supreme Champion 2018.

History

The Wiston Estate has been owned and managed by the Goring family since 1743. Its 6,000 acres straddle the chalky slopes of the South Downs and the flat clay soils of the Weald.

Sussex beef herds, grazing sheep and arable crops have been part of the Estate's landscape for centuries, but it was not until Pip arrived that the ancient Roman idea of planting vineyards in Sussex became a reality for Wiston.

As Harry Goring says, “No one seemed particularly interested in hundreds of acres of barley and wheat but plant 16 acres of vineyard and people are fascinated”.
